CLOTHES / SHOES / BOOKS
Fact: In the UK, we dispose of 650,000 tonnes of textiles each year. Currently only 21% - 35% is reused or recycled.
Any clothes or textiles (such as curtains or bed linen) and pairs of shoes, that you no longer want or need but are still in good condition, take them along to your nearest charity shop. Any items that can't be resold will be recycled and the fibres will be used elsewhere.
It is always best to give the organisation a call before you deliver the items to make sure they have a use for the donation and that their shop is open at the time that you call. Please do not leave items outside the shop as they become soiled and unusable and the shop is then charged for their disposal, taking valuable money away from the organisation.
